Space Cowboy (In Development)
Space Cowboy is a ten-foot fiber sculpture that fuses cowboy culture with aerospace fantasy through scale and motion. The work brings together two forces central to Colorado’s identity—the spirit of the cowboy and the pull of aerospace—collapsed into a single, improbable figure: a rocket ship wearing a cowboy hat.
Scale and material presence place the work somewhere between form and character. Motion gives the sculpture a sense of agency, allowing it to occupy space as something encountered rather than observed.
Conceived as a traveling work, Space Cowboy is shaped by the places it visits. Each presentation incorporates locally developed companion elements—responses, installations, or narratives—that reflect how a community sees itself and imagines its future, allowing the work to evolve over time.
